Whether we’re discovering new ideas, exploring big questions, or wondering how to apply our knowledge in different situations, every Journey invites deeper thinking, more meaningful connections, and plenty of opportunities for real-world problem-solving.

Story Trails: Following Letters, Words, and Stories
Follow the trail as letters become words and words become stories! This class blends a structured literacy curriculum with fun, engaging stories that explore big ideas like curiosity, kindness, bravery, perseverance, and friendship. Children build foundational phonics, reading, and writing skills through hands-on activities and creative play, including acting out characters, retelling and sequencing stories, building words with games and sensory materials, and crafting simple tales of their own.

Number Explorations: Discovering Numbers Through Play
Numbers become meaningful through movement, games, and everyday experiences. Children build early math skills like counting, subitizing, number recognition, patterns, and simple problem-solving using hands-on materials and shared challenges. Math feels approachable and useful as students talk about numbers, compare quantities, and explore how math shows up in daily life.

Curious Science: Discovering How Things Work
Questions spark discovery in this hands-on science class. Children observe, explore, and experiment as they learn how everyday things work, from simple machines to natural phenomena. Budding Artists: Creating Meaningful Marks
Art begins with curiosity and grows through exploration. Children experiment with lines, shapes, colors, and textures while learning that art is a way to share ideas and feelings. Creative activities support fine motor skills, confidence, and the understanding that there are many ways to create something meaningful.

Story Sleuths: Following Tales and Trails
Every story is full of clues. Can you follow the trail? This class blends structured literacy with engaging mystery and fantasy stories to build strong reading comprehension and writing skills. Students analyze characters and their choices, sequence events, track cause and effect, and respond through discussion and written reflection as they uncover meaning hidden in each tale.

Equation Adventures: Solving Problems with Purpose

Mythic Journeys: Quests and Questions
Step into magical worlds filled with quests, heroes, and daring adventures. Students read engaging fantasy stories, analyzing characters, plot, and worldbuilding while practicing reading comprehension and writing. Through discussion, reflection, and creative projects, they explore how courage, friendship, and choices shape both stories and the communities within them.

Along the way, they discover how artists respond to the world and develop their own unique creative voice.

Classes run 15 weeks, beginning on August 3, 2026 and ending on November 19, 2026. We take one week off for Fall Break, September 7–11, 2026.

Some courses do have required texts which are listed with the individual course description. Supply lists will be emailed after registration and also shared at our Open House sessions on July 30, 2026.

Yes! Middle & High School students taking two same-day courses get a supervised lunch break included. Elementary students can extend their day with Open Hangout hours via a Class Pack or Monthly Membership.

Every Journeys class is a project-based learning experience, so instruction naturally flexes to where each Explorer is. Small-group class sizes let Navigators give individual support in the moment, not just teach to the middle of the room. Class ratios are typically 6:1, and never exceed 10:1.
After the first class, your Navigator will develop an individualized Growth Learning Plan for your Explorer based on what they observe. Weekly take-home work is then customized to that plan, reinforcing what was covered in class while building toward each child's specific goals.

We aim to customize the experience for each child, so grade-level labels signal which skills a course is working on, not a strict requirement.
Some Explorers benefit from more foundational, scaffolded work, and others are ready for something more challenging.
There's no restriction on registering for a course that is different from your child's actual grade. If you believe a different course is the better fit, you're welcome to register for whichever one makes sense for your child.
